Puppy Passport payment terms

Puppy Passport lets you raise payment requests (for example a deposit or a balance) against a puppy and send buyers a link to pay by card. Payments are processed by Stripe through Stripe Connect. To accept payments, you connect your own Stripe account and complete Stripe’s onboarding.

Poodle Genetics Lab keeps 5% of each payment as a platform fee. Card processing costs are included in that 5%, so you receive 95% of what the buyer pays. The fee is calculated when you raise a payment request and does not change afterward, even if this rate changes for future requests.

Funds are paid out to you by Stripe, on Stripe’s own payout schedule, once your Stripe account is connected and onboarding is complete. Poodle Genetics Lab does not hold your funds and does not control when Stripe pays you.

When a buyer pays you through Puppy Passport, you are the merchant of record for that sale. The puppy sale, the price, and the terms of the sale are between you and the buyer. Poodle Genetics Lab is not a party to the sale and is not a party to your sales contract, whether that contract was signed on paper, through Puppy Passport’s in-app signing, or any other way. If you use the starter contract Puppy Passport provides, it is a template only. It is not legal advice, and you are responsible for making sure it fits your kennel, your state or country’s laws, and the sale you are making.

Refunds, chargebacks, and payment disputes are handled by you, in your own Stripe dashboard. Poodle Genetics Lab does not issue refunds on your behalf and does not mediate disputes between you and a buyer. If you refund a buyer, Stripe applies its own rules for how the platform fee is treated; check your Stripe dashboard for the details of a specific refund.

Poodle Genetics Lab does not verify or certify you, your kennel, your dogs, or any buyer who pays through Puppy Passport. Records on a passport, including any sales contract, are entered and controlled by you. Connecting a Stripe account confirms that Stripe has completed its own account checks, not that Poodle Genetics Lab has reviewed you or your sale.

You agree not to use Puppy Passport payments to:

• Collect payment for anything other than a legitimate puppy sale or a related deposit or balance;
• Sell a puppy you do not own or are not authorized to sell;
• Evade Stripe’s or Poodle Genetics Lab’s terms, including by structuring payments to avoid the platform fee;
• Collect payment for anything illegal where you or the buyer are located;
• Use false, stolen, or someone else’s payment or account details.

We may disable payments for your account, or your Puppy Passport account entirely, if we reasonably believe these terms have been violated, if Stripe closes or restricts your connected account, or if required by law. Where practical we will tell you why. Disabling payments does not affect passports you have already published, other than removing the ability to raise or collect new payment requests.

If you are buying a puppy and paying through a link a breeder sent you, your payment goes to that breeder, not to Poodle Genetics Lab. Poodle Genetics Lab processes the payment through Stripe and keeps a 5% platform fee; it is not a party to your purchase or to any contract you sign with the breeder, and it does not verify the breeder, the puppy, or the contract. Questions about your purchase, your contract, or a refund should go to the breeder directly.

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the “Last reviewed” date above when we do. Continuing to accept payments through Puppy Passport after a change means you accept the updated terms.
