Submit a Dog

Submit your Poodle for possible inclusion in The Poodle Coat Color & Pattern Reference Library. Every submission is reviewed by PGL before anything appears publicly. Approved dogs join the browsable Reference Library; one is featured as Pattern of the Week.

However you’d describe it is fine — you don’t need to know the genetics. Our reviewers record their own read separately, and we’ll always keep your description too.

Does your dog have any of these?

Only tick what you’re sure about — leaving them all blank is completely fine.

Picking your lab shows the exact notation your report uses for each locus below, and helps us catch a mismatch if a result ever looks off.

The first photo is the cover shown in the archive. Add up to 4more of the same dog — a different angle, a close-up on the pattern — and reviewers will see all of them. Large photos are resized automatically before upload.

What makes a good reference photo

  • A phone photo in daylight is perfect — it doesn’t need to be professional.
  • Just your dog in the frame: no people, no other dogs.
  • Coat visible — no coats, costumes, or blankets covering the body.
  • No filters, beauty mode, or colour editing — they change the coat colour.
  • A dry, ungroomed-for-the-photo coat shows the real colour best.

Optional, but genuinely valuable: colours like blue, silver and café au lait change as a dog grows, so a photo’s age is what makes it a useful reference.

Not shown publicly — used only if we have a question about your submission.
