What makes a good reference photo

A phone photo in daylight is perfect — it doesn’t need to be professional.
Just your dog in the frame: no people, no other dogs.
Coat visible — no coats, costumes, or blankets covering the body.
No filters, beauty mode, or colour editing — they change the coat colour.
A dry, ungroomed-for-the-photo coat shows the real colour best.

How old was your dog in the first photo?

Optional, but genuinely valuable: colours like blue, silver and café au lait change as a dog grows, so a photo’s age is what makes it a useful reference.
